Off-piste skiing can not be improvised and enjoying powder snow requires a bit of preparation ... For a safe practice, it is essential to leave equipped, informed, and never alone. Do not hesitate to inform the trackers of the station before your exit.

Adapted equipment

When you go off-piste, it is essential to equip yourself with:

- A DVA (Detector of Victims of Avalanche) to locate a buried victim. Before leaving, check the batteries on your DVA.
- A probe that allows to locate a victim.
- A shovel used to clear the victim.

SCALE 4: STRONG RISK

Strong instability on many slopes (detailed information in the snow and avalanche bulletins).

SCALE 5: VERY HIGH

Very unfavorable conditions .
